About The Foodbank of Southern California

  • The Foodbank of Southern California has been providing food to impoverished children, families, and seniors residing in Los Angeles County since 1975.
  • Foodbank is dedicated to diversity at every level of the organization. We are BIPOC led, with the highest percentage of BIPOC staff of any foodbank in California.
  • The Foodbank serves all of Los Angeles County, with a focus on the “poorest of the poor” neighborhoods in downtown Los Angeles, Compton, San Pedro, Antelope Valley, South Los Angeles, Watts, and North Long Beach.
  • The Foodbank of Southern California works with over 700 non-profit partners to distribute food. Of those, 275 feed the needy on a weekly or monthly basis in neighborhoods throughout our service area.
  • We maintain the highest volume of distributed food per dollar of operating expense while maintaining the smallest full-time staff of any metropolitan foodbank in the United States.
  • The Foodbank of Southern California is fortunate to be debt-free, owning its warehouse, offices, and equipment. The Foodbank is in a strong position to continue services for decades to come.
  • The Foodbank of Southern California has Charity Navigator’s “4-Star Rating” for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency, Guidestar’s “Platinum Seal of Transparency” for the newest and highest level of recognition, and America’s Best Charities “Seal of Excellence” for meeting the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.
